About Wesley Williams
Wesley Williams is living out his dream on the Gulf Coast. Every day at work is a new opportunity for Wesley to use his expertise to explain what’s up with the weather. His compelling storytelling has won him numerous industry awards.
His journey into weather began as a young boy in his hometown of New Orleans. The landfall of Hurricane Georges is one of his earliest memories of witnessing, first-hand, the ferocious winds of a storm. He also enjoyed when his parents would take him to the local Children’s Museum and couldn’t get enough of sitting behind the anchor desk of the mock television studio there. Clearly, the fascination for broadcast meteorology was taking root early on.
After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High, Wesley earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Meteorology from the University of South Alabama. He set out across the country to where his TV career started in Marquette, Michigan. There, he tracked snowstorm after snowstorm at WLUC. Following that, Wesley then made his way down to Monroe, Louisiana at KTVE which wasn’t quite as snowy. Instead, tornadoes sharpened his skills at breaking severe weather coverage.
Eventually, Wesley made yet another move. This time back down to the Gulf Coast to WLOX in Biloxi, Mississippi where in recent years he has become a familiar face to wake up to on Good Morning Mississippi. Wesley is thrilled to help everyone start their day with a smile whether it’s sunshine or tracking the next storm system. He’s no stranger to hurricane season; he has a passion for tropical weather thanks to a dedicated college course.
Nowadays, Wesley and his high-school-sweetheart wife spend their spare time discovering local eateries, enjoying the beach, and exploring the charm of Coastal Mississippi.
You can often find him on his Facebook and Twitter, sending weather updates and more.
